Company InformationBDI, a small company, has been around for a while. It was founded in 1955. It actually worked construction until 1968. At that time, it became more technical and began working with machinery. Machine shop services were conducted until 1975. Most of the time the company has been doing more than one thing at a time. From 1972 until 1982 the company worked in pharmaceutical as well as manufacturing. However, quite by accident, the production of vision blocks began in 1975 with a prime Government contract. Until the present, since that beginning, the main thrust of the company has been to produce vision blocks and do it well. BDI bought out the vision block fabrication division of Liberty Mirror - who had taken over from LOF. We then acquired the phase out portions of Falconer when they were taken over by Guardian. A lot has happened over the past that adds to our skill and ability. Others are here by accident. We are here on purpose.
Internal to BDI are the skills and ability to conduct most of the testing associated with producing prototypes, first articles and quality assurance as production proceeds.
Vision Blocks come with a warranty. You are protected for defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from date of fabrication or until installation, whichever occurs first. There is no design or functionality warranty.
BDI has tools, jigs, fixtures and gages as needed. We have a general purpose machine shop for maintenance to support production and produce new and different tools and gages as may be required. Most generally the machine shop does not do outside work.
BDI has determined that there are at least 60 different style blocks it has produced over time. We are fully tooled.

BDI facilities comply with MIL-I-45208. Inspection equipment is kept under MIL-STD-45662. All Vision Blocks are custom made.
